What's Spirulina?

Spirulina is an ancient lower prokaryotic single cell or multicellular aquatic microalgae. It can be made from fresh Spirulina paste by spray drying and sifting and disinfection to create the 120-150mesh powder. Spirulina is a nutrient rich blue-green algae, including vitamin B, β-Carotene and vitamin E. Spirulina is cultured as a dietary supplement and as a whole food. Spirulina is a good source of pure protein and is considered to have other health benefits. In addition to its nutritional value, Spirulina contains certain minerals, chlorophyll and phycocyanin (the pigment that makes algae blue).
